Not your average walk in the park
If you’re visiting for the wedding, we’re so thankful you’re coming and are so excited for you to explore Minnesota. Here are a few of our favorite spots – we hope you get a chance to enjoy them too!
–Minnesota Harvest Orchard: Come early and enjoy the beauty and fun of the place we’ve chosen for our wedding! In addition to going home with some delicious apples, you’ll be able to enjoy the activities, animals and other fall festivities at the orchard!
Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store: Trust us, this is worth a stop. You can’t miss the gigantic yellow barn, where you’ll find every candy you can imagine from all over the world, unique sodas, and tons of other specialty treats including popcorn, salsas, baked goods, pasta, honey…the list is endless. Be sure to make a stop!
Parks: –Lake Harriet: You can visit the site of Patricia & Ben’s first date! Walk around the lake, browse the shops of the Linden Hills neighborhood, and take a ride on the Como-Harriet Streetcar Line (Ben won’t be operating that weekend, but you can picture him in his cute little uniform running the show!) –
Mill District/Stone Arch Bridge/St. Anthony Main: The walk along the river in the Mill District is a great glimpse into Minneapolis History (you can also pop into the Mill City Museum for more!), and the Stone Arch Bridge and St. Anthony Main have some great shops and views of the city!-
Minnehaha Falls: Patricia and Ben live on and have canoed Minnehaha Creek, which culminates at Minnehaha Falls Park. You can walk great trails (all the way along the Winchell Trail in the Mississippi River Gorge to the site of Patricia & Ben’s engagement if you’d like!), enjoy the falls, grab a beer or some delicious seafood at SeaSalt, or enjoy the amazing playground and splash pad if you’ve got little ones!
Minneapolis Sculpture Garden: The sculpture garden is free and you can get the obligatory photo with the Cherry on A Spoon. If you have time, the rooftop mini-golf, designed by local artists, is worth the $10.
Museums: Minnesota History Center – one of our favorites; also has great activities for kids!
Minnesota Children’s Museum – recently redesigned and so much fun!
Science Museum of Minnesota – apparently the most popular museum in the Upper Midwest
Punch Pizza: Ben is a Neapolitan pizza connoisseur, and this is one of his favorites.
Convention Grill: A Franske family favorite famous for their classic burgers
Craft Breweries – The Twin Cities is famous for them; Fair State (get a sour and a pretzel from the bakery next door), Surly (Furious is Patricia’s go-to), and Bauhaus are some of our favorites.
Birchwood Cafe: One of Patricia’s favorites, specializing in farm-to-table and organic deliciousness
For some treats, try Grand Ole Creamery or Nelson’s (go with a group and split the Lumberjack) for ice cream, or head over to St. Paul to Trung Nam for the best croissants
Coffee/Cafes – Turtle Bread, Moose & Sadie’s, Dogwood, and Common Roots are some of Patricia’s favorites (Ben doesn’t drink coffee)
